    Rebuilding Together Dutchess County, an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, a national housing organization that rehabilitates homes and revitalizes communities to make them safe and healthy, and its sponsors are getting ready for Rebuilding Together's signature event, National Rebuilding Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 27.
    Rebuilding Together Dutchess County (RTDC), with the help of supporters and their sponsorship volunteer teams including Arlington Teachers Association, Central Hudson, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Meyer Contracting Corp, Peak Construction, Poughquag United Methodist Church, Sholes and Miller, TD Charitable Foundation and Walden Savings Bank, RTDC is slated to rehabilitate 8 homes on National Rebuilding Day.

     This year they will be helping homeowners including a disabled Vietnam War veteran, a single mother caring for her two disabled adult children, a disabled single father, and an elderly couple with decreased mobility. Repairs will include roofing repairs, installation of gutters, replacing ineffective doors and windows, repairing drywall, installing bathroom fans for improved ventilation, installing grab bars and handrails for increased safety and mobility, painting, flooring repairs, electrical repairs and fixing faulty plumbing.
    "We believe that everyone deserves a safe and healthy home," said Executive Director Christina Boryk. "With our volunteer and sponsorship teams we are able to serve eight homeowners in need return to a warm safe and dry environment.

The  organization Rebuilding Together  helps a wounded Gulf War veteran and his mother rebuild their home and their lives, by bringing them to a tate that is warm safe and dry. That is what Rebuilding Together does for the community and in honor of a Hero at Home.

Rebuilding Together Dutchess County helped to rebuild the home of disabled Gulf War Veteran Tim Wilkinson through their Heroes at Home project on National Rebuilding Day 2012.Roughly 350 community members mobilized to assist in projects throughout the county for the day, 4 of which being Heroes at Home Projects, Rebuilding Day is a showcase of the power of volunteerism that to help rebuild the lives of those who need it the most... its simply neighbor helping neighbor, by affording them the simple comfort of a warm safe and dry home.
